Leave the road, take the trails

Enjoy the closeness and the scent of wildflowers on the country roads among the rice fields. Ride in comfort on paths in national parks. Climb astonishing mountain formations for panoramic views of the flowing Mekong River on the border between Thailand and Laos.

Look deep into nature

Visit charming villages and observe the lives of smiling locals. Breathe the air in the Buddhist temple at the top of the mountain. Take a refreshing dip in the waterfalls.

Observe the mystical Mekong directly from your hotel balcony. Taste the specials from the road stalls. Reaffirm the world famous Thai cuisine for dinner. Enjoy a variety of fruits.

  ITINERARY

The route focus on north-east Thailand and starts/ends in Nakhon Phanom , after having gone through country roads, rice fields, jungle, mountains, waterfalls, small towns and rural villages along Mekong River. Lets visit amazing National Parks, the oldest temples in Thailand, relax and enjoy the spectacular panoramas of the flowing Mekong.

DAY1   Nakhon Phanom 

We start this tour by meeting in Nakhon Phanom Airport (you can fly to Nakhon Phanom from Bangkok – we can arrange these internal flights). Van transfer to a 4* hotel on a bank of Mekong River. After relax, we prepare for an easy walk or cycle along the river. It will be a perfect introduction and we top off our day in Walking Street. The local street food there is just fantastic.

DAY2   That Phanom along the Mekong 

Morning cycling along the Mekong, past some stunning villages. Very easy day, for adaptation to climate and time difference. Our route sticks to the river, giving us views of Mekong, rice fields and palm plantations. We’ll be riding through an area that is missed by most tourists, so don’t be surprised at the reactions you get from the locals at seeing a foreigner on a trike. The highlight of today is That Phranom Temple – probably the oldest temple in Thailand. Afternoon – we suggest a visit to River Spa.

DAY3   To Bueng Kan 

We cycle along Mekong river to the Friendship Thai-Laos Bridge and continue to Tha Uthen town with old temple and superb local market. For a lunch we will have a Mekong river fish. After lunch we transfer to Bueng Kan province and have a dinner with a lake view.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

DAY4   to Tham Phra waterfall and Wat Phu Tok Temple 

We have a leisurely cycle and then swim at Tham Phra waterfalls – huge natural waterpark.  Then visit the Wat Phu Tok Temple with beautiful panoramas from the top of the temple.

DAY5   Three Whale Rock and Phu Sing National Park 

Sunrise ride to famous 3 Whale Rock. After lunch – cback to Nakhon Phanom along Mekong river.

DAY6   Nakhon Phanom

Departure Nakhon Phanom

Today is yours to relax and rest after five days of great riding and and amazing nature. We can help with arrangements if you’d like to extend your stay in Thailand or Laos (superb Kong Lor Cave with underground river), and finally we organise transfer to the airport for onward flights.
